Baby Name Guide

For a lot of men and women out there who are planning or expecting a newborn baby in their lives, it is important to pick the right name for your child – that’s where Baby Name Guide comes into its element.
We all know it’s far from easy picking the name of your pet hamster let alone the name for a baby so getting any advice and possible history of the name may be just what helps you pick the most suitable moniker for your baby.
To start with you have a simple interface where you can pick from a boys or girls name. On the following screen you are able to select the length of the name from either a small ( letters), medium ( letters), long (7 or more letters) or all names stored on the database. Then when you’re satisfied by the length of the name you have the next option of selecting the first three and last three letters.
If you fail to insert anything in the final stage you are given the entire list from A to Z. You can of course decide just to put in the first letter or first few letters to whittle the selection of possible candidates down to something far more manageable.
Ultimately then this is a superb reference tool to get the brain going into overtime and you will have some fantastically original names as well as all the usual suspects to look through and try to decide from.
The application only becomes a little undone by the experience of trying to find out more information on the names stored on the database. Say for the rather obscure name Rollo for example, it holds no details, but the name Roland it does tell you that it means ‘Famous Land’ from the Germanic ‘hrod’ (fame) and land (land, earth). Unfortunately whether it gives you the meaning or not, you have to restart the process all over again, which does make the search a longer course of action.
That minor problem to one side however, there’s no application which is as thorough or as concise as this that I’ve come across for the mobile phone.
So whether you’re keen on picking a baby’s name, finding out a bit more information on your name or someone else’s, this application could hold the key for you. The drawback of having to repeatedly key in the information is a bit of a pain but ultimately you’re rewarded for your perseverance. It’s just a shame that not every name that’s listed is given any further information. One very neat aspect to this application is that it’s got a cross-cultural list of names, spanning just about every name from around the world. So if you’re in need of some inspiration as to what to call your newborn, then this is definitely the programme for you to download and explore.
