Ops Sniper 3D – Pushes the 3D capabilities of your phone further than nearly any other title
If you’re a fan of running around a variety of locations and blasting away at anything that moves then you’ll probably be dead keen to play Ops Sniper 3D.
In the same vein as Doom 3D and Wolfenstein 3D, this game gives you a testosterone fuelled trigger-happy frenzied go at saving the day. Armed with a trusty rifle and scope, you are given clear objectives to wipe out anything that tries to fire at you and rescue hostages and lead them to safety whilst under fire.
The graphics are truly impressive and very smooth. Whether you’re zooming in to see the white’s of the enemy’s eyes and blasting them to kingdom come or when you’re freely roaming around the level itself, there’s superb speed and control which makes this run a lot smoother than any of the other similar games on the market. Although this game doesn’t have the same depth of control in terms of being able to tilt your aim up and down, what it does do it does very well indeed.
The controls are pretty sharp, using the d-pad or keypad to move around the location and opening fire. To interact with items you come across e.g. medi-kits, you pick them up through using the 0 key. To use the item in your possession, whether its binoculars or medi-kit, you use the * key. Awkwardly however this key also is what controls your zoom – meaning you could be trying to get a good clear headshot at the enemy but end up simply looking at them through your binoculars or simply replenishing your health rather unhelpfully. To cancel out of zoom you simply have to press the # key.
So does this game blow me away? Yes, despite the slightly annoying and inconvenient controls (as highlighted above), the rest of the game more than compensates for this. The graphics and level detail and gameplay certainly runs at a similar level to games you’d find and play on full consoles and PC’s. So to find this all within the palm of your hand is pretty awesome and commands a great deal of respect.
If I was to have any other nag about the game, I’d have to say that killing the enemy proves a little difficult at times. Despite them standing still and not knowing who’s shooting at them or from where, it does take about four or so shots to bump them off. The whole time you’re sniping, this leads you open to other attacks and makes the game more than difficult to clear. All being said, this offers a fantastic challenge and good deal of fun with hours of gameplay.

Positives
Fun and very realistic
Great graphics that run very smoothly
Challenging
Negatives
The controls could be a little better
Memorising all the targets and objectives is difficult but you can access these at any time
The information you’re given is certainly a bit too specific and could detract from the freedom of doing it yourself
