Gorilla Rampage

Gorilla Rampage – Can you help King Gorilla rescue all the girls?

The major cities of the world is under attack from a variety of criminal masterminds and their cronies who are looking to kidnap a number of women for their diabolical scheme... just one thing stands between them and their evil success – you... or rather King Gorilla.
You play the part of a pretty familiar and oversized jungle dwelling gorilla named King Gorilla. Armed with a limitless supply of concrete slabs, you are responsible for rescuing the hapless heroines from the clutches of the advancing hordes of henchmen who are climbing up the side of the tower block. Your aim is simple, throw the boulders off the side of the building to knock off or crush the climbing bad-guys. To help you in your mission, by successfully stopping the opposition you’ll be rewarded with a variety of power-ups, including; flaming boulder, bigger boulder, rapid-firing coconuts, stomp and a stunning howl.
The opponents come in various disguises and abilities. For example, some are faster than others, some can take lots of hits than others. This means that what may start out as a relatively simple challenge to swat away the climbing opposition develops into more of a challenge. Throw into the mix the simplistic controls (pressing the OK/5 key releases the boulder and also changes the direction King Gorilla goes from side to side). This means that if you get it right (by hitting all the bad-guys off the building) you get to safely rescue the woman, get it wrong and you will see out the rest of your days as a zoo attraction behind bars!
With every city you work your way through, the technology and difficulty increases. In the first stages you’ll be beating the more basic climbers, later on you’ll have armed opponents! Simply put, although you’ve got a limitless supply of boulders at your disposal – you’ll have to start making sure every boulder hits their mark or it’s quite likely you’ll lose health – and the level.
The good news for most players, even if you do get captured and lose the level, you will restart from the ground floor and will be able to pick up where you left off. For the true purist gamers out there, this may well put you off, but this is aimed at the thumb-twitcher style game players.
In the end then, this game offers just what most gamers are looking for – fun, challenging levels and highly addictive qualities. It’s not the most dynamic game and even the end of level bosses don’t pose much of a challenge but it makes you smile and reminds me very much of all the classic games I grew up on... which is not a bad thing at all!
