Are you a budding property developer in the making, or have you ever wondered what it would take to build up a large portfolio of buildings within one of the world’s largest cities? Well, if so, then Tower Bloxx NY is definitely the game for you!
Set in New York (if you couldn’t guess from the title), this game consists of a combination of skill, luck and a bit of entrepreneurship. There are several game types to keep you entertained with, namely; quick game, board game, time attack and challenge modes. As the name suggests, the quick game’s for those who just want to build a single property as high as you can (by dropping a building block into place) whilst the crane swings it from side to side. You must be careful when releasing the block however as it will either land in place, cause the tower to lean or tumble off and possibly take some previously laid blocks with it!
For those who want to get more out of this game, then the board game’s the best option for you. In this mode you get to unlock four building types (residential, commercial, monuments and skyscrapers). The success of your game’s not measured by wealth, but rather by the happiness of the residents who use your property. The happiness comes by the skill you possess in building your tower; the better it is the happier the residents are.
Before you can build your property, you must first get the rights to the land. To do this you must be able to use your cards right. Each turn you take, you get to use special cards, some help you unlock land or build a tower, give you power ups or upgrade your building. In either case, there’s quite a bit to do and it will test your skills and logic ability.
Another aspect that’s touched upon, during the board game mode is the challenge mode. These challenges, can be played as you unlock them. The rewards during the board game are the possible gamble of either making a lot of people happy or jeopardising your happiness score should you fail. The majority of these challenges are time based, for example, build 20 blocks within 30 seconds or make 100 people happy within 20 seconds.
To help you achieve your target there are some nice touches which can be unlocked as you play. For instance, you can upgrade your buildings in three ways. The ‘Trophy Top’ adds up to five happiness bonus to the tower score (depending on drop accuracy). The ‘Grand Detail’ adds one happiness bonus to the tower score (it appears every fifth block). Lastly, the ‘Fancy Base’ provides a sturdy block to build on top of and more importantly, starts a combo immediately.
The time attack mode, gives you the ultimate challenge in terms of building as much as you can, as fast as possible within the timed limit. There are things you can do to give yourself extra time; reaching checkpoints and dropping a block perfectly.
Overall, this game gives you plenty of fun and lots of addictive twists to keep you playing for countless hours. If you enjoy ‘Monopoly’ style games or even puzzle games, this is certainly worthwhile for you to download.
