Let’s Golf 2 – All the fun of the fair-way!
IF you find golf a little too serious and too full of tweed and questionable fashion faux-pas, then thank goodness for Let’s Golf 2!
This firmly sticks a finger in the eye of the almost stifling attention to detail of the professionals. Although there’s a lot of challenges to overcome in the form of competitors and courses, this is much more in the same vein of Wii sports golf rather than the PGA and Tiger Woods titles. If crazy golf was to be put onto a proper full size golf course then you would probably have a better idea about the vibe (although no cheesy windmills are anywhere to be seen!).
In career mode you get to pick from a number of characters who have different attributes, ranging from power, accuracy, putting and luck. The more you play, the more courses you unlock and the more interesting characters you will encounter, defeat and unlock for your own golfing pleasure. After each three holes you play your character gets points to improve on their skills and abilities – which is a good thing as courses and opponents tend to put up more of a fight the further you progress. Additionally you get to win objects like hats, clothing and so on to customise your player should you wish to do so.
If you grow tired of playing against yourself you can compete multi-player online, wi-fi or via Bluetooth against your friends and random players anywhere else in the world!
The skill of playing this game itself comes from timing and co-ordination. You can take the time to overview the course, look into the winds direction and speed and then alter your shots direction. Tap the screen to start the power gauge, tap it again to stop at the desired power (choosing to acknowledge or ignore the suggested pace is down to you), the gauge then turns to the accuracy at the contact of the ball (hooking or slicing shot). By tapping the screen at the right interval you’ll produce a great shot!
Ultimately the game is certainly appealing enough to attract players from all ages and stages. The variety of courses and quirks you encounter also help to let you keep you playing quite happily for hours at a time – without even realising it! Overall, a great golfing game for anyone who doesn’t take themselves or golf too seriously... until they start playing of course!
