Pizza Manager – Mmm that’s just-a like how-a mumma makes it!
As a nation of food lovers, there’s arguably no dish as satisfying or as social as a freshly made pizza. Well, fortunately, if you’re fanatical about food you could be in for a culinary treat for your mobile in the form of Pizza Manager.
Sadly you can’t get to eat all the pizza you make on this title, however, this game is for anyone who enjoys a challenge in the form of pressing a sequence of numbers in order to make a pizza. To do this, you must use the keypad in order to do everything from rolling the dough, selecting the topping and baking it in the oven. So if you’re a multi-tasking kind of person then you’ll be feeling right at home with this game.
As the name suggests this game is all about management, so running the making of the food to the day to day grocery shopping all plays a part in this game. The story revolves around a battle between your long established restaurant and the new rival pizzeria which has just opened next door. It goes without saying, this game calls upon you to ensure your businesses survival through winning back your customers from this competitor.
It’s easy to say how easy the procedure is when you have only one customer’s order to deal with, the task of making a pizza by rolling the dough, spooning on the sauce, selecting the main topping and a selection of other ingredients from the list and then placing it in the oven, waiting for it to cook and then taking it back out again before serving it to the customer; but once you have a few orders to take care of you’ll be struggling to keep it together.
Combining the above complication with impatient customers, fluffing up the topping, or the old favourite, letting it burn in the oven, and you’ll be swiftly acting like a scene from Hell’s Kitchen!
The controls are crucial in getting things right in this game. As every action is permanent, by one wrong key press, you’ll end up losing time, wasting a pizza, and even possibly lose the game.
As touched upon, if you survive the heat of the kitchen, you will get to spend some time stocking up on your supplies and equipment (e.g. ovens and freezers). This is another crucial part of the game, by not picking enough toppings from the grocery store, you won’t be able to meet the demand of the customers. Similarly, you will need to improve your kitchen’s facilities to make sure food cooks quicker (and saves you time) and the freezer’s bigger so you can stock more ingredients.
Overall then, this game gives you a whole new appreciation for the guys who toil in the pizza restaurant. It’s fair to say that this game puts you through your paces and will require quite a bit of dedication to purchase upgrades for your business. However, every achievement you make in this game does feel more rewarding as it does appear as though it’s nearly as hard as the real thing.
