Opticians will need to be on the lookout for this new game. Eye Training, a spin-off of the extremely popular ‘Brain Training’ game franchise, gives you a variety of games for you to get stuck into – offering fantastic value for money and hugely addictive qualities.
As you may be already expecting, there’s more to this game than meets the (ahem) eye. Indeed with 20 games to unlock and play, you will be able to challenge yourself in an almost limitless combination of tasks. You have four abilities which are challenged; analysis, memory, reaction and attention to detail.
These games come in a variety of cute and entertaining ways. For example, a game of tennis is able to be played, testing your reaction speed, but rather than a quite dry and formal test, there’s a large dose of fun and tongue in cheek incorporated for good measure. I will say that this particular challenge is spoiled a little by the rather odd angle at which the game’s viewed from – which does have an impact on the possible hi-score you will be able to achieve. However, this isn’t so bad and in a way actually keeps you addicted and almost constantly frustrated when you manage to fail the task in the end.
Other games are more traditional eye tests, like matching the right shape block to the compatible hole. Don’t worry, this isn’t all like the kiddy circle, square, triangle and star tasks you may remember from your childhood days, but it’s not exactly rocket science either.
The good thing about this sort of simple, yet challenging style of game is that players from all kinds of backgrounds, ages and stages, will be able to get stuck in right away and enjoy the game more and more as you get to master each level. For additional benefit, as mentioned earlier, you will be able to unlock more and more games when you improve your score.
I would be slightly over-exaggerating if I were to say that opticians will be shaking in their white coats in fear for their jobs now this game’s come to market. In reality this is purely a fun game which will test you in ways that you wouldn’t think possible with a humble mobile phone.
As with some other ‘training’ games out there, you are a little restricted by being only able to challenge yourself fully once a day. This does give you some more realistic comparisons as you will notice your results improve with the more practice you play. However, it’s a little bit of a pain not being able to re-sit these tests for instances when you have a bad day.
Overall then, this game offers a large variety of interesting challenges which provide a good level of repeat play. You’ll no doubt find yourself switching on your phone, like myself, every day, and getting stuck into challenging yourself with the aim of doing better than you had done the day before.
