Escape from NOM

Escape from NOM – The perfect escape in quirky colourful fun

Escape from NOM is one of those games you seem to discover from time to time in the apps store. It’s part puzzle, part cute graphics, totally off the wall and a whole load of fun!
If like me, you spend an age commuting and need a bit of distraction, this game offers you the perfect escape. The premise is simple, you must drop your little coloured blob from the top of the screen into the puddle at the bottom. Unfortunately, this simple task is made a whole load more tricky with the introduction of hungry Nom’s and being obliged to collect point scoring tokens along the way. To do this, you must try and judge the angle to fall from and then cross your fingers and hope that you guessed right.
Reminding me of something a little bit like pinball, you will find fixed buffers which you can use to your advantage. Hit these at the right angle and you’ll bounce safely through any of the dangers, do it wrong and your little buddy will have a messy ending.
To move your cute little guy along the top of the screen, simply swipe the direction you wish him to move in until you’re happy. For some levels you may wish to tweak the movement by a lesser scale, to do this simply move the dial at the bottom left or right to position your little fella into the right place. When you’re happy, tap the drop button and hope that you got it right.
To make this leap of faith even more precarious, you must also try to figure out some of the logic and timing which goes hand-in-hand with this game. For quite a few levels, you will need to not only bounce through the obstacles safely, but ensure your chap is the same colour as the pool at the bottom. Your cute character changes colour when touching a buffer. In some levels you might be lucky enough to have access to an arsenal of buffers and pads which you can place into any position on the screen.  Some of these pads also can be rotated to suit to give you the right trajectory.
Ultimately this game is random and hilarious. It’s ridiculously simple in its concept and thoroughly enjoyable and highly addictive in playing and should definitely be on your radar. With so many levels and themes to keep you busy with, it also has a great shelf-life and once you’ve mastered it, your friends will likely be bitten by the bug too.
