3D Mobile Golf World Tour

3D Mobile Golf World Tour – Become a pro mini-golfer

If you’re anything like me, whenever you get to a seaside resort and stumble upon the obligatory crazy golf course, you will find yourself unable to turn the challenge of man vs hole down. Perhaps this is a vain attempt to regain my youth by reminiscing good old family fun, or maybe it’s just because it’s simply the best thing to do apart from riding the donkey and overdoing your ice-cream and rock consumption (of course). Alternatively it is better value than those claw grabbing toy arcade games.
Unlike all the typical dodgy and damaged courses you find dotted around the UK you will find five themed 9-hole courses which you can pit your wits against. Some are quite traditional in terms of the challenges – for example finding the right angle and pace to ricochet off a wall and up a slope. Sadly there are no rotating windmills and zany looking wild animals to be found, however, there are plenty of fans, sand pits, spring-loaded platforms and tricky courses to work your way round.
Although it’s fair to say this game isn’t going to give Tiger Woods a run for his money, but it’s certainly quite a champion in its own field. Ultimately your main challenge is getting a hole in one. Although initially you may believe this is impossible on each course, if you’re pretty good at trigonometry (working out angles) and guessing the right power of the shot and just having a smidge of luck in the mix for good measure, you will be able to get a hole in one on every course.
So if this doesn’t teach you much about real golf, what does it do? Well, it teaches you that you can either play it safe or risk it all! If you are a bit of a maverick, you can angle your shot off the edge and try to rebound it and fluke the shot of the century (sadly there are no replays), or you can take things slow and steady.
As just mentioned, this game does have some flaws which are a bit of a pity. The courses are lovingly detailed, but the graphics are a little twitchy meaning that the hole disappears from view at certain angles. Also you can’t switch off the view of your player, so sometimes it’s not easy to gauge the right angle. You can return to the overview screen of the hole for a more planned angle and sometimes your player lines up some interesting shots – usually facing the wrong way! These little niggles aren’t a total loss but do add to the fun and silliness associated with crazy golf.
If you’re looking for a challenge then this does offer you 45 holes which will keep you trying to beat your best. Unfortunately there’s no 2 player option and the controls aren’t as sharp as you would perhaps desire, but this game certainly isn’t the worst on the market.
