Fans of the original 3D Contr Terrorism will know pretty much everything there is to expect to see from the second instalment of this title. However, if you’re used to the Doom/Wolfenstein 3D type game, then you should be eager to get to grips with 3D Contr Terrorism - Episode 2.
This game picks up right where the other had left off, namely, you’re a special forces agent who’s challenged to not just eliminate all who stand in your way, but also try and find hostages and keep them safe.
As you begin, you can develop your arsenal to suit your individual style and the mission type. For example, you can buy a side-arm which has 20 rounds in the magazine (but the bullets aren’t as powerful), or you can pick the one of the other guns which is more powerful, but holds only half a dozen rounds. A similar story can be said for the main firearms, like a sub-machine gun or a high power sniper rifle, naturally the machine gun’s better for disposing of your enemy at close quarters, whereas the rifles best at sniping at them from a distance.
For those of you who are a little more, well, ‘psycho’ there’s always the option of using your rather sharp knife to negotiate with the terrorists with extreme prejudice. The only problem with this I found is that the controls are a bit of a letdown, making this task almost impossible to do well (or without the ringing of gunfire being left in your ears).
On the upside, this game offers not just the challenge of fighting the computer, but against others within range of your Bluetooth device. This does even up the score quite a bit, as hopefully, they’ll find the aiming just as fiddly! But seriously, this means that you can play the same game and even the score as much as you like (or until the battery runs out).
The graphics are really good and the lairs are expansive and offer lots of places for you or the enemy to hide or explore. The interface is as good as ever, showing you a good clear HUD (Head’s Up Display) outlining your enemy or target’s position on a radar screen. Some may feel this is a bit of a cheat, but if time’s short, you’ll appreciate any assistance to seek and destroy within the constraints.
In truth, the game’s got everything that you’d ask for and expect from a first person shoot-em-up. If you enjoy immersive games which will keep you on your toes and give you plenty of entertaining levels to keep you busy for quite a while, then look no further than here. Additionally, if you’re a more advanced at playing this sort of game then there’s different difficulty levels to ensure you can improve in your lethal techniques.
