Snake Reloaded – It’s a slippery critter!
Snake is to mobiles as Tetris is to well, mobiles – an absolute classic. Bearing this in mind it means that any game developer out there who tries to improve upon perfection is going to have a tough time winning over absolutely everyone.
Snake Reloaded tries to do exactly that however, it offers a choice of classic and reloaded game styles. So if you’re a purist you can enjoy snake in the way it used to be, albeit in a rather more slicker appearance, and you of course have the re-vamped model which is designed to challenge those who don’t care for green and dark green screens!
To be honest there’s very little new to tell you about the classic version – it’s much the same as all the other versions just more colourful and animated. The real reason why most people will want to play this game is for the ‘new and improved’ version – and in that case, you’ve got quite a few things to look forward to.
As with all Snake games, you control the snake (or in this version a fire snake) using either the d-pad or the keypad. You must navigate your way around the various levels gobbling up golden items which will cause your snake to grow an extra grid square in length. By bumping into walls or yourself you will lose a grid square in size and if you’re not careful, you will disappear altogether and lose the game and be forced to restart. There are other objects like gems to collect along the way, these add to your score but don’t cause your snake to grow, and if you gobble down three of them you will receive a bonus.
Where this game comes into its own element is that you can move from one puzzle room to another by the interconnecting path (which reminded me a bit like Pac-Man). You’re free to roam up and down between these levels as much as you wish, but be careful not to get trapped by the random appearing obstacle blocks that get in your way!
Overall if you’re a fan of Snake style puzzle games then you’ll be into this game, whether it’s the classic or reloaded version you’ll be happy and playing this game for hours.

Cute, good graphics and animation
Both original and reloaded versions to play
Some nice ideas and well executed
You can adjust the difficulty levels from easy to insanely hard
Lots of challenging grids to master
Negatives
The idea has been nearly done to death and it’s not really reinvented the wheel
Repetitive
The cute animated graphics were distracting
