Ramayan 3392AD

Ramayan 3392 AD – Larger than life comic book hack’n’slash action

There’s really been only a handful of platform games released in recent memory – and even fewer of these are actually worth making a note of. Fortunately however, Ramayan 3392AD is a perfect example of scrolling platform action which will keep you glued to the screen.
For those of you who like hacking and slashing your way through the levels then this game is certainly going to give you a fantastic treat. You get to play as one of two characters; Rama or Lakshman who must rid the various locations you get to run through of the Ravans. These nasty green skinned, levitating and vicious individuals are what stand between you and your race’s survival and certain death.
With this in mind, you must leap and bound around the screen hopping from platform to platform to reach these opponents and using your blade, dispatch them in no uncertain terms.
This sounds like quite a piece of cake right? Wrong! In your first mission you must kill 30 Ravans. However there’s only 35 (roughly) in total Ravans in total that appear on the screen throughout the entire level and between timing your jumps, slashing your enemy and speeding up/slowing down, it’s easy to miss one or two and effectively lose the game.
The game controls are pretty effective and straight forward, you press the direction on the d-pad or keypad, using either 3 or 5 to slash at your enemy and up to jump, right to speed up and left to slow down.
The most enticing thing about this game other than the excellent graphics which appear lifted directly from the comic book series, is the different attributes of the two hero’s. One is more agile with his movements, the other is far tougher with his weapon. This makes the game flexible for you to play to your individual strengths.
In truth this game does lose out to some other platformers out there on a couple of grounds. Firstly it seems to lack any true complexity or creativity which effects the game-play itself. Sometimes simple is good, but this game comes up a little short for not doing much more with the game. Secondly despite the great graphics and comic book styling, the animation seems a little static and rigid. However, this game does deliver a challenge, plenty of repeat plays and lots of gore and action for you to keep you playing for many hours.
So if you enjoy your challenges and are a fan of all comic book action games, then you’ll not be disappointed with this game.
