Bubble Revolution

Bubble Revolution – When a game goes pop!

Games are developed for certain audiences, some for action, others for testing general knowledge meanwhile some are more therapeutic – such as Bubble Revolution. This is not to say that a game like this offers no real entertainment, in actuality it proves more addictive than nearly every game you can probably mention.
This game is a variation to the bubble-popping style genre where a number of coloured bubbles appear and it’s down to you to burst them in chains of three or more bubbles of the same colour by firing coloured bubbles at the right time. To do this, you have a rotating bubble cannon which you control by sweeping it 360 degrees (through using the d-pad or keypad’s left or right keys) when you’re happy with the angle, pressing the OK or 5 key will shoot the bubble. If you hit your mark, the chain of bubbles will burst and you add to the tally of points in that level, miss and at best you lose points for poor accuracy and at worst, you’ll possibly make things very awkward by interrupting a possible chain of bubbles.
However, not all is lost! As you have a limitless supply of bubbles at your disposal, you have quite a while for the bubbles to complete their course – meaning you will likely complete the level in record time – even if you have a poor aim! On the downside, this game is certainly more geared towards the younger audience or the more casual gamer who just wants to kill hours of time in a challenging and addictive game.
I won’t say this game is as addictive as Tetris, but certainly if you like that and Puzzle Bobble style games, you could certainly do worse than adding this title to your collection. If you’re looking for some light-hearted entertainment which doesn’t really engage much more than your fingertips then this game is certainly one for you.
If, however, you want more of a challenge then you might find this game offers a surprising depth through having a few different modes to entertain yourself with; career, endless and time attack modes. In career mode you have to clear each level to progress to the next stage. Endless level will only allow you to play the courses which have been cleared in the career mode and offers you a challenge by increasing the speed at which the bubbles are spawned – meaning you have to think and shoot fast (and accurately) to beat your high score. Time attack mode means you only have to go up against the clock to clear the stage.
Overall, this game has a great amount of fun and lots of features to keep you playing for hours. Its simple and repetitive nature may not appeal to everyone but it offers endless entertainment to those who like this sort of thing.
