When it comes to picking a game it’s sometimes hard to decide what to spend your pocket money on. But fortunately rather than having to decide whether to go for one title or another – why not get three in one?
One such game’s Arcade Pub Pack. This title contains a snooker, darts and a slot machine game which will provide you with lots of entertainment and a variety of fun. Let’s start with the snooker game to begin with. This is a top-down style game where you have five lives and are challenged to score as highly as you can. Scoring works exactly the same as in regular snooker (red = 1 point, yellow = 2 points, green = 3 points, brown = 4 points, blue = 5 points, pink = 6 points and black = 7 points). The game consists of your cue and an aiming line which displays the direction the ball will travel when hit. At first you must pick the angle you wish then when satisfied, by tapping the select button you’ll start the power of the shot (which moves up and back down again). Be sure to tap the select button again to pick your power, but be careful as too much and you’ll possibly end up potting the white cue ball and losing a life, or too little and you wont hit the object ball again – which again costs you a life).
As this is an arcade version of the game the accuracy of the shot is a little wayward and you have no control of the cue ball’s spin, however this isn’t terrible, and actually adds to the charm of the game. The only real downside to this game is that the balls sometimes went missing from the table – meaning it’s impossible to get to finish the game.
The slot machine game is a pretty enjoyable and very challenging. As with all fruit machines, you must try and win by luck, chance or fluke – but failing that, you can nudge your way into the big winnings. The three reels spin in order and you have a variety of buttons which light up when it’s possible for you to use them. You have the option to hold, nudge (either up or down), spin or collect winnings. The way you score is by the amount of money you win in your spins. The more you win, the more you can continue to play – if you run out of money, your game’s over!
The last of the trilogy is the darts game – where you must beat the computer at being the first to reduce your score from 501 points down to zero. To do this, you have a cursor which rotates clockwise around the edge of the board. When you are happy with the position of the cursor you must tap the select button, which then changes the direction the cursor moves towards the centre of the board. By pressing the select button again you’ll fire the dart and after three darts, it’s your opponents turn.
You score by beating your opponent and the number that your opponent has still left on the board goes towards your final score. Your game ends when your opponent beats you to zero.
Overall then, this game offers some excellent sports entertainment which will keep you playing for many many hours. In truth the game’s a little rough around the edges but this adds to the charm of the game.
