Are you a couch potato and proud of it? If so, why not turn your many hours of channel hopping into points?!
In TV Quiz you have everything that you’d expect from a quiz show – a cheesy host, a variety of tests and four levels of difficulty… oh, and a cute girl holding up the scoreboard.
If like me you think you’re a bit of a boffin when it comes to TV shows you may be surprised to learn that the first two ‘easiest’ settings are certainly going to provide a challenge. For fun, I did dabble with the toughest settings and noticed that the questions were generally a little harder, but the main difference was that the points you could win by answering the question correctly was considerably more.
In a way this game does have a few elements which have come right from the ‘how to make a quiz show’ formula, namely; it gives you a multiple choice answer. To help you in your quest of proving you are the supreme TV know-it-all, you have three lives, three bombs and three white flags. As you may have guessed, for correctly answering a question you will receive points, for incorrectly answering, you’ll lose a life. To help you pick the right answer, you can play one of your bombs which will remove two wrong answers and leave you with one correct and one wrong possible answer to pick from. The white flag option allows you to skip the question altogether should you not want to risk getting it wrong, and hope that the next question isn’t so tough.
This game really does test your memory and guesswork. Covering a wide variety of decades, you’ll be asked some more general knowledge questions like ‘in what decade was the FA cup final shown in full?’ and more commonly known questions like ‘which Australian soap show is set in Ramsay Street?’
With this in mind, you’ll be tested in all aspects of your knowledge and you’ll be doing well if you can get your score into the mid-hundreds.
The only negative thing I can say about this game is that you’re not told what the correct answer was if you are wrong. However, this makes sure that if you are asked the question again, you will have to try to not repeat the same mistake. After playing the game for a few hours, I actually never had to answer the same question.
So, if you enjoy your TV quiz shows, this game provides you with everything you’d expect from one – including the cuddly toy!
