Stunt Car Racing

For those of you who remember playing Motorcross Maniacs on the classic Game Boy you will possibly be able to let it go once and for all by playing Stunt Car Racing. This addictive game offers a number of the thrills and spills that you would expect by leaping crevasses and pulling off death defying flips but without having to recover in hospital afterwards.
With 99 tracks to choose from you will no doubt asking why did they stop there? I personally would have liked this game to have an unlimited number of courses as it’s such a good little game to enjoy in your free time. Of course unlimited games are a bit much to expect in any game let alone one for the mobile, but none-the-less, the 99 tracks are all challenging in ways and will keep you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. If you’re an adrenaline junkie or a fan of monster trucks, you will enjoy the sight of seeing your car crash and smash its way over the top of cars littered throughout the course. Flying through the air and flipping your buggy either backwards or forwards will give you many style and skill points but at the very likely risk of ending up a wreck yourself. Doing wheelies is always a nifty trick to get extra points, and if you manage to do one for long enough you’ll be awarded a trophy – but be warned, it’s far from easy as nearly no course is flat enough for you to keep even those two wheels on the ground!
You will have the choice of having a career race, quick race or taking the hot seat through the various stages of rainforest, desert and snow covered courses. In every course you will be taxed to the limit both in terms of luck and skill. Pulling off perfect landings not only reward you with points but also improves your boost which helps you avoid obstacles and pick up speed on steep inclines. As you’d expect your vehicle is not too fond of crashing and does cause you to come to a rather abrupt and explosive end – which is arguably more impressive than completing the level!
If there was one thing I could say that this game could improve on is the introduction of little things like loop-the-loop circuits and the option to slam on the brakes to help improve your chances of surviving that round. Sometimes it feels as though you’re more out of control than in it – but that’s all good fun isn’t it?! Fortunately you can pick from two vehicles, both with different attributes, one’s a tougher model which can take the hard knocks a bit better than the other, but its speed and handling is compromised – but again this allows you to really pick what is right for you for the course and indeed you can be proud if you survive the ragged and near impossible courses you will come against. Overall this game is one of the most addictive ones I’ve played to date and would certainly recommend downloading and playing straight away.

Rating 97%

Positives
Really addictive – found myself playing it more for fun than for reviewing
Lots of challenging courses – 99 in fact!
Hours of playability
Good use of controls and vibration function

Negatives
Some courses are nearly impossible and some are really easy
Quite repetitive
Could have benefited from loops and other obstacles
Would have been better if it could be played/viewed horizontally as its not easy to judge what’s coming up when you’re flying high in the air!
