Who Wants to be a Millionaire: Music Edition

Is your music knowledge comparable to Simon Cowell? Are you the next musical mogul in the making? Well if so, why not test your knowledge in this special version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire: Music Edition?
We’ve all been guilty of shouting out the answer at the telly whenever we’re watching a quiz show. Arguably, it’s a darn sight easier being this side of the camera than in front of it; however, we can only play for pride rather than the money.
Being grown up on nothing but Top of the Pops and MTV, I thought I was in for a really easy ride, but no, this game is almost like being in the spotlight!
The looks are identical to the game you see on the screen and in various pub corners on the arcade machines. You have a simple selection screen with four possible answers (of which only one is correct). You can scroll up and down between them before selecting the one you wish to pick. As in the original game you have the three lifelines, ‘50:50’, ‘phone a friend’ and ‘ask the audience’.
If you decide to go for 50:50, you will have two wrong answers eliminated, leaving you with one correct answer and one wrong answer. Phoning a friend will have the computer simulate a helpful answer – but you don’t have to go for it just in case they’re wrong. Asking the audience is a pretty good way of indicating what may be the correct answer too, although again, the audience could be wrong in their answer so use all lifelines with caution.
The music is identical to the game-show’s own, from the intro music, and the first ‘easy’ questions to get you to the guaranteed £1,000 mark is accompanied with the more light-hearted tune, to the more tension building atmospheric music then kicks in for all other questions thereafter.
You have 40 seconds to provide each answer to the question, and of course you not only get the ‘money’ for guessing the correct answer, but also get points for how quickly you answered. After you answer the question correctly you are reminded of your score and prize money total. To allow your nerves to settle from the wracking experience of some of the most difficult questions, you can take a bit of a breather to compose yourself as the scoring screen lets you wait for as long as you like before continuing.
As far as the questions go, they are very thorough and range from pop music in the modern day (and pop culture trivia) through to album titles, band member names and classical music. It’s pretty safe to say you’ll find some questions a lot easier than many others.
Your score is totalled at the end (after either successfully winning a million, losing or walking away), you get to save your hi-score and indeed post it globally to compare with other clever musical maestros out there.
So all that’s left for me to say is, this game is definitely a good quiz show game and will certainly tax your musical trivia knowledge and indeed teach you quite a few bits too. I played this for several hours and didn’t find a question repeated, so in terms of how much fun this game can offer – it’s loads and loads – and yes, that’s my final answer!
