Spongebob Squarepants fans are probably in their millions if not more by now. Although it’s a kiddies show, I think it’s fairly safe to assume more grown-ups probably love this show more than anyone else! Fortunately then Spongebob Squarepants Paparazzi Parade is available for you to play to your hearts content either openly or in the closet like quite a few fans.
In this game you are charged to snap shots of all the various characters from the television series. The challenges vary but not much, you’re tasked to capture these colourful characters individually, often together and even when doing specific things. This sounds simple right? Well, yes actually it kinda is! You have a few weapons at your disposal, namely the shutter which you press to take the photograph and then receive a reward for the most lucrative image taken. The other effective tool of the trade is the ‘say cheese’ control that can be used by pressing the star (*) button. By pressing this at the right time, the characters will temporarily freeze on the spot and look at the camera for a brief time allowing you to get your moneyshot – however don’t get too carried away, you’ll not be able to sell these shots to the Sun or other such press. Nor keep pressing the cheese button too much as you only have three to use, wisely!
You may think that taking pictures of animated characters is going to be a doddle, but actually it gets quite hard as they all randomly walk about with little or no pattern to their movements. This makes it all quite tricky to get specific characters together in the same shot and even harder to get a shot to be proud of. What makes this even more difficult is the opportunity to do all this within the rather short timeframe. For getting some shots, you will be rewarded with some extra time (and extra cheeses) which will help you get the shot required but don’t let this distract you from the main objective(s) of the game.
Controls are simple, up, down, left, right, snap and cheese (in order, 2, 8, 4, 6, 5 and *). This is useful as you can take the shots rather than fight with controls and try to take the shot. The only drawback to this is that you must be wise with pressing the shutter button as it stops you from taking another photograph for a few seconds whilst the flash recharges. The issue with this is you could end up missing the shot that you desperately needed. So the saying ‘you call the shots’ takes quite a new meaning with this game!
In the end then this is definitely a great game especially for all Spongebob fans, adults and children alike. I think for other players, it still offers quite a challenge too so again, a good choice for you to enjoy in your spare time.
