Do you remember doing the old ‘mathematics of love’ type game using nothing but your name and date of birth of both you and your desired beau? Well, if so then Love Match is bringing this up to the modern age with the convenience of your mobile phone.
Now, I’m not into superstitious mumbo-jumbo but do believe there’s unpredictable and undoubtedly powers outside our knowledge and control which play a part in everyday life. So with this in mind I’m going to be as objective as possible with this review.
Love Match is a simple application which runs on your phone. You have two fields to fill in, your name and date of birth and the name and date of birth of your other half or wannabe lover. Once you’ve filled the information in, then you can press the left softkey and let it do the sums. You are then presented with a percentage of how in love you are or would be (should you be an item).
To add a little more input to the result you also get a bit of blurb which resembles a kind of cross between agony aunt and horoscopes should you desire a bit more insight. Again, I don’t know how accurate this is in reality, as apparently my partner and I only had a result of 56% love compatibility and then the second time I input the details we had a 93%. I can’t say what changed in the space of a few minutes but obviously something unknown to either of us was taking place!
I will say that the only real nagging point I had with this programme was the controls for inputting the information. When putting in a name, the two T’s in Charlotte needed quite a pause between them to prevent the first T to not cycle through the letters. Secondly the numbers for the date of birth could take a while should your birthday fall later in the month or your year be quite a while ago as there’s no quick way to input it other than pressing up or down. It would have been better if you could have a drop-down menu or were able to press and hold the keys to scroll faster.
Anyway, in basic terms this is nothing more than a bit of a laugh for you to have with your significant other or with your mates when playing ‘what if?’ scenarios or predicting the love compatibility of your friends. I don’t think this offers any great playability or addictive qualities after the initial fascination wears off. I think it’s very quirky and would be amusing for you to play with but undoubtedly shouldn’t be trusted for long term relationship plans as there’s a whole lot more to take into account rather than date of birth and first name!
