The cult late night Adult Swim programme, The Brak Show, has been made into a mobile game for everyone to enjoy.
Personally I’ve only ever seen a handful of the shows while flicking through the channels whenever trying to find something watchable but it does cause me to stop the flicking and settle down to actually watch it whenever I have stumbled upon it. I’m sure those who are more acquainted with the show and all the variety of characters will be really pleased to see the off-the-wall show spun off in such an equally quirky game.
The aim of the game is to get your character (of which you can pick between the two main ones) and try to make friends with all of the other characters from the show by doing tasks and having conversations, both of which come in the form of a mini-game which resembles games from Leisuresuit Larry fame. For example, having a conversation is a challenge of moving your face up and down between three lanes where you must use your thumbs at lightning speed to collect all the smiling and happy faces whilst avoiding the sad and angry faces and at all costs, avoid hitting the sudden death (skull and crossbones).
The game resembles something from the Sims, moving between rooms and buildings in the neighbourhood map. The real difference between this game and other similar offerings is the humour that keeps you tuned in and laughing out loud. Sometimes the humour is a little dark and indeed slightly mature (well by this I mean, better for older gamers to enjoy).
Mini-games available for you to play are Brak Dance (where you must hit the correct keys at the right time – a bit like those dance-mat style games), Chat (as explained above), Steal the Chicken (a bit like whack-a-mole), Lawn of Doom (avoid being set alight by laser beams whilst collecting items), Headkicker (a basic fighting game where you must remember the right sequence of numbers to win), Feeding Frenzy (where you must feed the fish the right food and avoid the falling ham) and Beating Booth (where you must bully other characters for money).
Not saying that these games aren’t quite enjoyable, but they are a little morally disturbing although I would imagine those who know a little bit about this game or indeed show, will purely enjoy it for precisely the reasons why parents would probably yelp at the thought!
I think this is an excellent introduction for those who enjoy the TV shows and definitely should help boost the notoriety of the brand. Definitely more aimed at the boys and teen market, it’s an excellent game packed with quite a few different mini-games. Also you can either play the story mode or just enjoy the mini-games themselves – which means you can enjoy an in-depth or quick fix game to suit your needs.
