If you ever got into the game Adventures of Ana & Baby Cat in the Jungles of Borneo, then you’ll no doubt be delighted to hear about the next instalment - Back to Borneo : With Ana & Baby Cat.
Now it’s fairly safe to say they’re not going to win an award for the imaginative titles of the games, but at least they get some points for originality in designing the game and making it totally different from the previous one. However, sadly it’s still a bit of a poor performance from the developers again.
The game picks up where the other left off – with a brief summary that’s as follows “Its back to Borneo again… the pesky monkey’s have finally left the jungle and its now up to Ana and Baby Cat to swing through the forest and rescue other stranded animals.”
So in a Tarzan kind of way, Ana (with Baby Cat in a rucksack on her back) swings along in a scrolling jungle landscape to collect gold coins and rescue as many stranded animals whilst trying to avoid flying birds and tall trees. To do this, you simply have your OK button or number 5 key to help you swing along in your mission.
Indeed, the controls couldn’t be simpler. By not pressing the button, you’ll swing lower and lower and by pressing it you’ll go up. Although this is just about as simple as it gets, the birds and trees will cause you to have quite a tough time in getting a good score. Although it’s tempting to save every stranded animal on the water’s edge, you must first try to judge whether or not you’ll hit a tree and end your game quicker than intended. The up and down movements are quite slow, and so it’s quite tough to judge distances and time your movements to avoid injury. In essence, this is the only real challenge in the game.
So overall then, this is certainly a cute game which will pose some appeal to all animal lovers out there. However, I’m a little confused as to why Panda’s are in Borneo – although this would explain why they’re needing your assistance in being saved! In other respects this game is very very repetitive and offers minimal addictive qualities other than getting so frustrated by knocking into a tree or being hit too many times by birds – which causes you to have to start all over again. Having said that, you can upload your score online so you can see how well you are doing with other players – which would possibly give you more of an incentive to keep trying to beat their score (and indeed your own in the process).
As far as sequels go, this is not the best and certainly isn’t as good as the original (which is hard to imagine). If you want a new game, you’ll probably find something far more appealing elsewhere.
