We’ve all enjoyed playing the classic Rock Paper Scissors game in the playground but what do you do if you’ve got no-one to play the game with? Let me introduce to you USARPS Rock Paper Scissors – which makes the game playable at any time of day, anywhere in the world!
This game is as simple as it gets, you can select rock, paper or scissors. As you probably know already, rock blunts scissors, paper wraps rock and scissors cut paper. You have to the count of three before you reveal your choice of the three possible options. By pressing 1, 2 or 3 on the keypad by the count of three you’ll play your hand and try to beat your opponent. Should you tie (both of you play the same hand) you get to play that go again until there’s a winner.
This game takes you from the local pub circuit (in Boston ) where there are 16 players, the regional circuit (in New York ) where there are 32 players and the championship (in Las Vegas ) where there are 64 players.
To begin with as mentioned, you start in Boston and must beat the opponents there before you can progress. For me I found this quite easy and completed this in the first attempt. The second stage posed more of an endurance test than the prior level and got quite tricky at points but by guesswork I was able to progress to the third stage (the Championship) to contend there. This proved more of a threat but again after quite a lot of perseverance I was able to successfully complete this final level too.
In honestly, this is a good time-killer and if you have five minutes spare, the first stage is adequate at filling that gap. The next two levels are certainly a bit more taxing and will take quite a while for you to complete – especially if you are looking to win!
This is largely down to luck rather than trying to spot a system and sticking with it. As far as I can tell, the programme uses a random method itself and doesn’t follow the same pattern every time. You’ll have to out-fox your opponent and try to counter their movements.
A nice touch that this game offers is a statistical round-up of your moves at the end of each game. This will show the percentages of hands you won as well as the number of times you played the three hands. Unfortunately, that’s about the only inventive twist in this game.
All in all, this game does offer some amusement and unpredictable challenges but there’s nothing else really to reward you for playing it in the long term. You’ll find that once you’ve unlocked all three levels you’ll be having a sense of déjà vu.
