Mobile Rally 2

It’s nearly every boys dream to have a fast car and thrash it around the place to prove you’re number one.
So if you’re one of the guys (or girls) who like life at full throttle and crave the adrenaline you get from daring spins and spills that driving like a maniac around the course would provide – then have I got the game for you!
Mobile Rally 2 picks up just where the first version left off. For those of you unfamiliar with the title, you’re able to pick from a few cars which have different attributes, e.g. handling, speed, acceleration and tyres. Then when you’re satisfied with the vehicle you must drive your car around the course as fast as possible through the ‘gates’ (cones) as you aim to be the fastest to the finishing line. You get points for doing things correctly, like going between the cones, spinning or sliding, and you get penalties for other things like hitting cones. The thing to remember is that you’re running against the clock the whole time and its game over should you run out of time.
The great thing about this game is that the car you choose can totally suit your driving style. For example, if you’re all about being fast – there’s one for you, or should you like something with better handling and acceleration then you’re in luck! Another thing which is quite novel with this game is the option to switch between normal or auto-steer. Normal steering uses either the up, # or * key and then left or right to turn your vehicle and down to brake or reverse. With auto-steer the direction you want to go into is the direction you press the key or d-pad. It takes a bit of getting used to, particularly if you’ve played it using the normal controls. However, it does make the game a bit more flexible and more challenging.
For me, I found the top-down style of the game well detailed and the effects of driving on the track and on the grass did add a realistic quality to the overall game. To be honest the only twitchy element that I found with the game was the steering. When trying to turn, it was almost impossible to do so without either ploughing into a cone or tree. I did improve with practice and by choosing a different car, but it still it didn’t really compensate for the (lack of) controls.
In the end then, with five tracks to master, you will be challenged by playing this game and for those of you who are into rally driving, you’ll have lots of fun skidding about on the muddy and tricky courses.
