The global communication phenomenon of the successful site of Twitter has long been set as a favourite in many mobile phone browsers since the first time of visiting. Up until now this has been at a bit of a cost to the visitor due to browsing charges incurred through downloading images the general transferral of data. This hasn’t been hitting some as much as others due to contract arrangements but for those who are looking to be a bit more savvy and also a lot more thrifty then definitely install the JTwitter application.
This java application is a must have for any Twitter lover or Twitterer as they’re known (I believe this was ruled in favour over and above ‘Twit’ – although I can’t imagine why?!) Removing the frustrating download speeds of regular WAP browsing and replacing it with the far more convenient package that this programme offers is a real godsend. Not only do you get to run this application as a convenient bundle from your handset, you get to avoid incurring unnecessary costs. You can limit downloads so although you won’t be receiving the news instantaneously, you’ll still be able to keep in touch through viewing others Tweets and/or uploading your own, promptly and importantly, securely!
Another key feature that this does away with is the pesky and costly SMS rates that would be otherwise generated by contacting everyone in your phonebook. Instead, one Tweet upload later and all your friends, family and nosy so-and-so’s will be fully up to speed with your whereabouts or your thoughts.
OK, this is possibly the biggest and best programme to come to your mobile phone since err.. Snake?! But, do proceed with caution too! As you are no doubt aware, with many social networking sites come certain risks and it may be tempting to post everything from what you had for breakfast to which club you’re heading to this weekend, but you have to try and keep things under wraps – especially as everyone who cares to find out, probably will! Needless to say, this will probably be disastrous on an epic scale should you reveal intimate details as I’m sure anyone out there will testify either through personal experience or from someone they know or have heard about.
As with anything, with great power comes great responsibility so be sure to be responsible with this fantastic application. This really puts the world at your fingertips wherever you may be – so is very suitable on the move. I would say that as with any programme that accesses the web (no matter how frequently this is done), you will probably find the battery life taking quite a hit – especially if you’re doing this for any great lengths of time. I would say this is by far the best way to Twitter on the move, just shy of having a laptop and broadband connection, but shouldn’t replace the real thing in its current form (only down to restricting images etc.)
A useful but potentially costly feature that this software offers is the ability to launch a browser to follow links using your regular WAP connection. It may be rather counter-productive in doing this if you’re trying to keep your costs and time spent surfing down. This being said, if you regularly Twitter or simply want to get onboard this huge bandwagon, then look no further!
