We’re all guilty of falling in love with the classic games which come on Microsoft Windows at one stage or another. Whether it’s Minesweeper, Free Cell or Solitaire ‘Spider’, then rather than lugging around your laptop, pda or PC, why not install WinGames 3 in 1 for many hours of guilty pleasure and fun!
These classic desktop games are brought to life in vivid colour and pleasingly simplistic control. As you would expect the rules are the same the world over and just in case you don’t know them, then a full set of instructions are available.
Minesweeper has three levels of difficulty (beginner, amateur and professional) and the additional ‘lucky’ scenario, which is totally random. These different settings provide you with different sizes of playing area and mines to find.
Free Cell is a little like the card game solitaire but with 4 spaces available for you to use to help you get to the cards below. The intuitive controls allow you to highlight a card or indeed the sequenced row (alternate coloured suits in a descending number) to then move it to another column or to the free space (cell). The cards automatically flip and rotate as desired and even automatically slot into place as soon as possible for example when the aces are made available.
The aim of Solitaire ‘Spider’ is to collect all cards in a row with a minimum number of moves of the same suit. You can pick whether or not you wish to use one, two, three or four suits (spades, hearts, clubs or diamonds). Once you’ve got all the cards running from ace to king the row will be eliminated automatically – leaving you to clear the rest of the cards up.
In summary, as you would expect from such traditional puzzles, these are definitely addictive and have stood the test of time easily. You will be undoubtedly drawn in to playing these games and enjoy the limitless possibilities that they offer. You’ll love playing these over and over again. Of course if you’re keen to get your teeth or indeed thumbs wiggling into an action game then this is definitely not the game for you. However, if you’re looking to stretch the old grey matter between your ears a little then what are you waiting for – get downloading now!

Enjoyable
Simple and easy to get to grips with
Suitable for any ages
Challenging and rewarding/satisfying

Music is nothing special (but can be turned off)
Frustrating and unable to go back a move if you come to a dead end
The clear highlighting of possible moves could be made a little more obvious
The cards are quite small so could cause eye-strain if unlucky
