Fans of Bubble-Bobble and Tetris will be pleased to see the new puzzling addition to mobile games under the amusing title Crazy Spacy.
As this game is suitably in the same style as these puzzle classics, you will be certainly addicted and entertained in ever increasing waves of delight. Choose from three space ships which are equipped slightly differently, you are given the task to connect similarly coloured blocks in rows of three or more (vertically, horizontally or diagonally). Armed with your space ship’s tractor beam, you rearrange and align the blocks as you desire whilst the clock counts down.
As an additional twist to this at times quite frantic sliding puzzle game, you have to also avoid the rockets which fly at you from the ground. You also have special squares which will help you, if played correctly, to help clear the ever increasing rows of blocks. You have a rocket which will remove the bottom layer of blocks, a bomb which will detonate the connecting squares in proximity and another which destroys the column. You can also pick up extra health and time objects which will boost your score possibilities.
This game is pretty slow in terms of how quickly these coloured blocks are reproduced. The first few levels are indeed quite slow and monotonous and for any advanced player of this style of game will probably be struggling to keep themselves awake between every turn where the next row of blocks are built. Admittedly, this is a relief at later stages as its not really the speed which the blocks are produced but the introduction of new colours and the more difficult combination to rearrange which indeed will cause you to crash and burn.
The novelty provided by playing this game is certainly quite entertaining. I would suggest that this is not quite in the same calibre as Tetris, but only just. The cartoon style animation and cute playing flair is very endearing and at times a little distracting from the game.
In brief this is a very addictive and entertaining little package well worth playing if you have a few moments spare. It doesn’t offer quite the same thrills and spills that a faster game offers, but none-the-less the combination of coloured blocks and rocket-dodging fun adds quite a good depth and level of unpredictability and enjoyment. It’s a novel approach playing a game top-down or bottom-up depending on how you wish to look at it. The new dynamic of scoring via diagonal blocks is quite refreshing to see. Normally most games only score via a straight line horizontally or possibly vertically so it takes a little getting used to playing the game and remembering you can indeed score in diagonal lines too.
