Crash Bandicoot: Mutant Island

Crash Bandicoot lovers will already be well aware of the style of games that are available under this title. The newest game on offer, Crash Bandicoot: Mutant Island is, as you’d expect, no exception.
This game is fantastically detailed from start to finish, from the victory peace sign Crash does after successfully completing a level, to the grain in the wood and stone. The comic-book style appearance of cheeky monkeys, zombies and hypnotised friends that you find yourself up against are both amusing and very pleasing to the eye. This multi-faceted platform game will test your reflexes and skills to the max as you attempt to fight baddies in their various shapes and sizes, solve simple puzzles and dodging hazards.
Unlike many of the failed attempts of popular 90’s game icons this is a fully fledged game that is pure and simple joy to play and breathes a fresh breath of life to an almost tired games title. This is undoubtedly good news for those who recall the dodgy release Crash of the Titans and some subsequent projects under this banner, as you will be able to stop holding your breath as this is not just a good looking but thoroughly complete game which will reward you for your effort until the end.
Run, bounce, fly and slide through twisty-turny levels. Swing on vines and handlebars, bouncing off walls and grabbing onto ledges are just some of the things you’ll find yourself able to do with the familiar orange haired character.
A lot of thought went into this game as you will be able to tell from the frantic dashes to the calmer moments to catch your breath. The controls are simple and effective and the button to press is indicated over Crash’s head from time to time just in case you find yourself unsure of what to do. This is a fantastic success for the mobile gaming experience and arguably one of the best titles to date available for you to enjoy.
This game is well crafted and will no doubt make you wonder why it wasn’t made to be played on some of the bigger consoles. Of course this sort of game would be probably rendered obsolete by the more powerful consoles but it’s to its creators’ credit that they’ve made this game such a totally superb game.
If I was to say any negative thing about this title is that it does get a little repetitive in stages – but this is certainly able to be glanced over as you will no doubt have plenty more things on your mind as you fight your way through every stage.
Overall, this is brilliant fun for all the family, enjoyable, action packed and engages the mind a little bit too (but thankfully not too much).

Wipes the slate clean for all the bad Crash Bandicoot games released
Good music

Negatives
Slightly repetitive in stages but nothing bad
Being able to alter the difficulty setting would be a nice trick too
